On July 12, 2006 I led the Israeli government to decide on a comprehensive military response to the Hezbollah attack on an IDF patrol along the border with Lebanon, near Moshav Zar'it. At the start of the Hezbollah attack, 10 soldiers in two armored vehicles were killed. Concurrently, Hezbollah fired a barrage of rockets that swept across Israel's entire far north, from east to west.
