Thanks, Putin, for Outlawing the Jewish Agency in Russia

Finally, some good news: Russia’s Justice Ministry appealed on Saturday to a Moscow court to shut down the Jewish Agency, which has been operating in the country for 30 years as an independent Russian organization. The reason cited in the appeal is violations of Russian law, even though the Agency has been doing what it has always done – encouraging aliyah to Israel through public diplomacy, counseling those interested and flying the olim hadashim to Israel.
