I was driving back to Jerusalem one late night in early March, listening to the news on the radio when it suddenly hit me. It was wall-to-wall accounts of how hospital wards in Italy and Spain were swamped, and supermarkets in Britain emptied of basic products. I thought that it was a matter of hours before panic would spread in Israel, too, and spent the next couple of hours stocking up in all-night stores.
