Police Sappers Neutralize Car Bomb in Haifa

Investigators believe bomb was meant to settle score between rival criminals in northern city.

Police sappers on Thursday detonated an explosive device hidden in a car in a Haifa neighborhood.

No one was hurt in the detonation and police say they believe the bomb was intended to be used for criminal, not terrorist purposes.

The bomb was discovered during a routine patrol of the Hadar neighborhood. A witness at the scene reported seeing police take a man and woman into questioning.

Around 3:30 pm, police found the explosive device in the trunk of a car parked in the Hadar neighborhood. It reportedly took sappers over an hour to neutralize the explosives.

Police are currently trying to determine who the bomb was intended for, but believe it was meant to settle a score between rival criminals in the northern city.
