Police Arrest Man Suspected of Raping Teenager in Tel Aviv Club

Girl says she went to bathroom with man who took advantage of her being drunk to sexually assault her.

Police on Saturday arrested a man suspected of raping a 17-year-old girl in a bathroom at a Tel Aviv club on Thursday night.

The victim, a Kfar Sava resident, issued a complaint to police on Friday night, saying that she was raped by a man, 28, while she was in the bathroom of the nightclub "Old School" at the Tel Aviv port.

The girl reportedly told police that she went to the bathroom with the man where he took advantage of the fact that she was under the influence of alcohol to assault her.

While under police questioning, the suspect reportedly admitted to being in the bathroom with the girl, but denied having sex with her, insisting that they just kissed.

His lawyer told Haaretz that the suspect "is not irresponsible; he also had a few drinks that night, but he did not have sex with the complainant. In fact, they spent the rest of the evening together, until she left at 4 A.M."

The suspect will be brought before a Tel Aviv court on Saturday evening, where police will request a remand extension.
