Kiryat Shmona Cafe Owner Charged With Assaulting Employee

Owner allegedly refused to pay employee, threatened to kill him; victim remains hospitalized in Safed.

The Nazareth District Court on Monday charged a Kiryat Shmona cafe owner with assaulting an employee who had demanded his salary. The owner, Charlie Peretz, was indicted for assault and threatening his employee.

The incident occurred a week and a half ago, when the employee came to the cafe to collect his wages. Peretz allegedly cursed him, refused to pay him and then demanded he leave the cafe.

According to the indictment, Peretz told his employee, "I will kill you. You don't know who you're dealing with." The indictment also says that Peretz struck his employee in the face with a frying pan.

The employee suffered serious injuries in the attack, including facial wounds, cuts on his hand, as well as a torn muscle and tendon in his hand. He remains hospitalized in Safed.
