Kinneret Water Level Falls Below Lowest Red Line

Latest measurement, taken on Monday, shows lowest water level in seven years.

The water level of Lake Kinneret, measured Monday, has fallen below the lower red line 213 meters below sea level.

This is the lowest measurement since 2001, when the reading was 214.87 meters below sea level.

The measurement in 2001 was conducted in summer, and was the lowest in recorded history. Because yesterday's measurement took place at the beginning of the summer, there is a serious chance the water level could decrease enough to create a new record low this year.

At the end of last year the measurement was 212.59 meters, the lowest in five years.
