Father and Son Hit and Killed by Car While Walking Along Northern Highway

Paramedics found the body of the boy over a hundred feet from where his father was found dead on the road.

A father and son were killed Sunday night after they were hit by a car while walking along a highway near the northern town of Yokne'am.

Sunday night an unidentified driver called the police to report that he had "hit something". After arriving on the scene, the police found a body lying on the side of the road, a few hundred feet from the car of the driver who had contacted the police.

Paramedics arrived at the scene and confirmed the man's death. No identification was found on the body and it was subsequently sent to the police forensics unit for identification.

A resident of a moshav close by arrived at the forensics unit after learning about the accident. The resident said he was worried as his brother and his nephew had gone for a walk and had not returned. The man identified his brother's body and told the police that his brother had been on a walk with his son.

The police then launched a search for the boy and found his body lying dead on the road over a hundred feet from where his father was found.

Police arrested the driver after the accident and have asked the Nazareth court to extend his remand.
