The Secondary Schools Teachers Union is planning to strike on Monday from 11 a.m. in the central school district. On Sunday, teachers went on strike in the Southern school district as of 11 a.m.
The strikes initiated by the teachers union is in protest to the dead end in negotiations with the government on a collective bargaining agreement.
On Sunday afternoon the heads of the teachers union will meet Finance and Education Ministry representatives for the first time since the National Labor Court's hearing on Thursday in which both sides promised to hold intense negotiations on three key subjects: The manner in which salaries will be protected from inflation, overtime pay for tutoring children with learning disabilities and pension plans.
