Trump Campaign Senior Adviser Uses 'Fake Video' of Gaza Rocket Fire to Attack Ilhan Omar

The clip posted by Katrina Pierson is actually a 2015 video of missile fire during the Ukrainian conflict against Russian-backed separatists

U.S. President Donald Trump’s 2020 campaign senior advisor Katrina Pierson slammed Democratic Congresswoman Ilhan Omar on Twitter on Sunday with what she claimed was a video of rocket fire into Israel from the Gaza Strip - but what was actually rocket fire in Ukraine,

Pierson, who was the national spokesperson for the Trump’s winning 2016 presidential campaign tweeted, “650 Rockets being fired into Israel from Gaza in an attempt to overwhelm Israels Iron Dome: 173 intercepts, 4 people killed, and 28 wounded. What is @IlhanMN response to this violence? Will she condemn it?”

However, the video is actually a 2015 video of missile fire during the Ukrainian conflict against Russian-backed separatists. American news website Mediaite accused Pierson of spreading a "fake video" in her Twitter attack on Omar.

Pierson replied to her misleading tweet, with another tweet, which attack former Vice President Joe Biden’s foreign policy record. Pierson wrote, ““Someone should ask @JoeBiden if he knows where the billions of dollars that the Obama/Biden administration gave to the illegitimate government of Iran went? #JustAQuestion.”

It's unclear why Pierson initially chose Omar as the focus of her line of attack. Omar made history this year as one of the two first Muslim-American women to enter the U.S. Congress and has since been a prominent target of the American right, including President Trump, who have attacked her for past statements critical of Israel.
