The leader of Hamas is likely to visit Moscow at the start of next year, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov said on Friday, according to the RIA news agency.
Bogdanov said Moscow was also ready to organize a meeting between Hamas, which controls the Gaza Strip, and Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas' Fatah faction, which runs the Palestinian Authority in the West Bank.
Russia's ambassador to the Palestinian Authority visited Gaza and met with Hamas political chief Ismail Haniyeh last month, Haniyeh's office said at the time. At the meeting, the ambassador invited the Hamas leader to Russia and the two discussed internal Palestinian politics.
