Three Men Executed for Rape in Iran

According to the local chief justice, the men kidnapped a woman in the southern province of Hormozgan, raped and then murdered her

Three men have been executed for the rape of a woman in the southern Iranian province of Hormozgan, ISNA news agency reported. 

The three were hanged on Wednesday in the central prison of the provincial capital Bandar Abbas, the local Chief Justice Ali Salehi told ISNA. 

According to Salehi, the men kidnapped a woman a few months ago, brutally raped her and then murdered her.

In Iran the death penalty is imposed for, among other things, murder, rape, armed robbery and drug trafficking. 

In rape and child abuse cases, executions are carried out particularly quickly. 

Iran has been the focus of international criticism for many years because of the many executions it carries out.
