The Israel Defense Forces’ official Twitter account trolled Iran on Monday after Prime Minister Netanyahu confirmed Israeli air strikes “pounded” Iranian targets in Syria overnight.
The IDF account tweeted a map of the Middle East with arrows over Iran pointing to the words, “Where Iran belongs,” and other arrows pointing to Syria with the words, “Where Iran is.” The image was tweeted with the caption, “Iran, you seem to be lost. Here:”
The tweet immediately sparked a bevy of replies spread across the political spectrum. One user noted, “The holy meme war has begun.” Conservative commentator Rick Wilson replied to the tweet, “Best troll game in the business.”
Others replied with their own maps. One replied with a map with arrows pointing at the United States with the words, “Where the United States belongs,” and other arrows pointing at Iraq and Afghanistan with the word, “Where the United States is.”
