“He’s alienating himself from the public and from society, but he and his advisers haven’t noticed that it could bring about the end of public confidence in the state. They don’t understand the consequences of their conduct.” This isn’t an extract from an opinion piece critical of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. It appeared in the Iranian newspaper Ebtekar and the remarks were directed at President Hassan Rohani himself.
