The offer by the United States to negotiate with Iran is a deception, Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said on Wednesday in remarks published on his official website. “Negotiations are a deception for what they want. A weapon is in your hands and they don’t dare come close. They say drop the weapon so I can do whatever I want with you," Khamenei wrote.

U.S. President Donald Trump has said he is willing to hold talks with the Islamic Republic. This is despite the imposition of new sanctions on Iranian Supreme Leader Khamenei and other top Iranian officials - a dramatic, unprecedented step to increase pressure on Iran after Tehran’s downing of an unmanned American drone last week.

Iranian President Hassan Rohani said Wednesday that America is pursuing an incorrect path in its dealing with Iran, according to the IRIB news agency. He added that European signatories have not done enough to preserve the landmark 2015 nuclear deal and it would be in the benefit of European countries and the United States to stick to their promises under the deal.

Despite U.S. danctions, Iranian central bank governor Abdolnaser Hemmati said Wednesday that Iran’s oil exports are increasing, according to the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA).
