Fatah Official Fired After Jewish Settlers Were Filmed Attending His Son's Wedding
Radi Nasser, who heads the Deir Qadis Village Council, says that the Jews were brought to the party in a plot to harm his reputation

The council head of a Palestinian village was dismissed Friday from the Fatah movement after a video emerged this week of his son's wedding and revealed that four Jews participated in the celebrations.
According to Palestinian media, the four Jewish attendees are settlers.
Radi Nasser was also removed from his position in the Palestinian Education Ministry. The ministry announced that a special council will examine the event and decide on the steps that will be taken against Nasser. "This is a scathing violation of all of our national values and an affront to the position of every Palestinian," a statement by the ministry statement read.

Fatah said that it will hold a no-confidence meeting to dismiss Nasser from his position, and that a list of the guests at the celebration has been passed on to Palestinian security officials.
In the video, the four Jews can be seen casually joining in the wedding festivities on Thursday night, alongside hundreds of residents of the village, located near Ramallah. Some of the guests filmed the Jews, and the videos quickly spread on social media, prompting outcry.
Many commentators saw the presence of Jews at the wedding as an insult to the village's residents and to the Palestinian nation as a whole, and called for Nasser and his family to be punished immediately. Nasser was quick to deny that he invited the Jews, saying that they arrived after midnight. "When they told me and my son that there are four Jews who entered the party, I went over and threw them out of the place," he said.

After checking with family members, Nasser said, they learned that the four arrived with invited guests from the community, claiming that they work together as auto mechanics, and that they were brought in order to harm the reputation of Nasser and his son. His statement won him the support of his extended family, which said that the council head is known for his national positions and his actions in Palestinian society. The family called on officials to examine the facts before punishing Nasser, a call that has gone ignored by Fatah and the Education Ministry.
