Israeli actress Ayelet Zurer is among the stars of "Marvel’s Daredevil," a 13-episode series scheduled to premiere on Netflix in 2015.
The series is based on the "Daredevil" comic created by Stan Lee and artist Bill Everett. Its lead character, Matt Murdock, is a lawyer who was blinded as a boy and who uses heightened senses help him fight crime in the Hell's Kitchen neighborhood of New York City.
Marvel gave fans a first look at the series at New York Comic Con on Saturday. It unveiled a series of clips from the show – which the Wall Street Journal described "as a moody, gritty series with large helpings of moral ambiguity" – along with the cast.
Zurer plays Vanessa Marianna, an art dealer whose chance meeting with Wilson Fisk – a crime lord and adversary of both Daredevil and Spider-Man – changes their lives. She is joined by Bob Gunton, Toby Moore and Vondie Curtis Hall as cast members.
"She's a person, who if there's a locked door, and someone would say, 'Don't go in there,' she will," Zurer said at the press conference of her character, Vanessa.
“These are four of the most important roles in 'Marvel’s Daredevil' and we’ve assembled actors worthy of each iconic role,” said Jeph Loeb, head of Marvel Television and a "Daredevil" executive producer.
“Ayelet, Bob, Vondie and Toby each bring a unique charisma and power to the roles, making it immediately clear why each of their characters is so vital to the war for Hell’s Kitchen.”
British actor Charlie Cox plays Murdock, while Vincent D’Onofrio stars as Wilson Fisk. Rosario Dawson, whose role was previously kept under wraps, will play the Night Nurse (Claire Temple) who tends to Murdock.
