Israeli actress Gal Gadot and her husband partner Jaron Versano have joined forces to make a Hollywood film about former Cuban president Fidel Castro.
Various American websites reported Thursday that Warner Brothers acquired the rights to the film, based on an article published on Politico titled “My Dear Fidel: A Journalist’s Secret Liaison with Fidel Castro” by Peter Kornbluh.
Gadot and husband are collaborating to develop the project for the Hollywood producer Sue Kroll, who worked with Gadot on the blockbuster super-hero movie "Wonder Woman." Gadot may star in the new film as well.

Kornbluh, a historian and researcher of American-Cuban relations, exposed the story of Lisa Howard, an ABC reporter who became a confidante of Castro, the communist revolutionary who ruled Cuba for half a century. Howard, the first woman to lead a news program on ABC, became key to a secret communication axis between Washington and Havana, in an attempt to improve relations after the 1962 missile crisis.
“When I first read Peter’s article, I was entranced by his thrilling account of a complicated, fascinating woman in the midst of a high-stakes, real-life drama,” Gadot said. “I knew immediately that I had to be involved creatively with telling Lisa Howard’s story, and am thrilled to be producing this film with Sue.”
"Wonder Woman," starring Gadot, was one of the highest-earning movies of 2017, with global box office revenues of more than $820 million. A sequel to the super-hero hit is slated for release in 2019, Deadline reported.
