British Fantasy Author Terry Pratchett Dies at 66

The writer, best known for his Discworld series, died after a long battle with Alzheimer's.

British fiction writer Terry Pratchett has died at the age of 66, his publisher said Thursday.

"The world has lost one of its brightest, sharpest minds. Rest in peace, Sir Terry Pratchett," Transworld Books said.

The prolific author of some 70 fantasy novels had suffered from early-onset Alzheimer's disease.

He is best known for his Discworld series.
