Members of the Jewish community took to Twitter to eulogize the late novelist Philip Roth on Wednesday, saluting his career and the impact his books had on them.

Roth, who was both hailed and derided for laying bare the neuroses and obsessions that haunted the modern Jewish-American experience, died on Tuesday at 85 from congestive heart failure.

Novelist Gary Shteyngart wrote simply "Heartbroken. No one like him now or ever," while British writer Linda Grant offered a humorous story relating to "Portnoy's Complaint." Here is a selection of the best tweets in praise of Roth, who also wrote "The Plot Against America" and "American Pastoral" in a long and illustrious career...

Members of the artistic community also weighed in on Roth's literary genius, including Lena Dunham. The "Girls" star wrote: "Haven’t grasped the words yet to explain Roth’s influence, which I feel everywhere from my writing to my dating."
