The advertisement for a glass bong in the shape of a Hanukkah menorah naturally caught the eye of Jewish pop culture enthusiast Eddy Portnoy.

“Now, that’s an interesting object,” he recalls thinking when it popped up on his social media feed.

And thus, a seed was planted – pardon the pun – that would take Portnoy on a two-year exploration of the relationship between Jews and marijuana (aka cannabis).
