“The Baker and the Beauty,” an American adaptation of a popular Israeli romantic comedy series, has become the streaming service’s most-viewed series less than a week after making its debut.

The series is an American remake of an Israeli scripted drama. In the original Israeli series, originally titled “Being With Her” (Lehiyot Ita), an unlikely romance develops between international superstar model Noa Hollander and humble baker Amos Dahari. This reverse-gender take on Cinderella, a comedic and sometimes thoughtful exploration of race, class and celebrity, is reminiscent of “Notting Hill” in which a wealthy and glamorous woman falls for a charming and humble working man.
