A swastika drawn in butter on a sandwich bun has outraged a MacDonald's customer in North Carolina and left the employee responsible for the prank jobless.
Charleigh Matice told local TV franchise WCTI how she discovered the Nazi symbol in a Southern Style Chicken Sandwich purchased through a drive-thru window. The Nazi symbol was clearly visible, drawn in butter on the inside of the bun.
"Many people died because of that symbol and it's not something that should be taken lightly. It's not something that should be thrown around," she said.
Matice went inside and showed the sandwich to the restaurant's manager, who offered to make her a new sandwich. However she demanded a full refund.
In a statement released by the local McDonald's corporate office, the company said it shared Matice's upset about the incident and said that the employee responsible has been fired.
"We do not tolerate that kind of behavior at McDonald's, and it's not what we stand for personally as owners. It is about providing the best level of service and care to our customers, and anything less than that is unacceptable to us," read the statement obtained by WCTI.
