The acclaimed late night talk show host may not be a member of the tribe, but Stephen Colbert, the man who gave us the Atone Phone for the High Holidays, is no stranger to Jewish humor.
This year he is paying tribute to the Jewish festival of lights with a special video for every night of the holiday.
In his first video, Colbert offers greetings and blessings on what he calls “the candle industry’s Black Friday” and plays dreidel “come on, Daddy needs a new tallis!”
On the second, high-end celebrity chef Daniel Boulud demonstrates a very off-beat way to make a “Jewish jelly donut” for Hannukah. In the third, guest comedian Larry Wilmore tearfully complains about not being invited to Hannukah parties. “I mean, when was the last time you saw a black person at a menorah lighting?”
