A high-ranking delegation of the Women’s International Zionist Organization, comprising representatives from 30 communities around the world, will participate in a special discussion Tuesday at the Knesset on promoting female leadership in the Jewish world.
The delegation, headed by World WIZO Executive Rivka Lazovsky, includes representatives from the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia, Germany, Mexico, South America, India and Hong Kong. It will be holding its annual working plenary in Tel Aviv this week.
Representing 250,000 WIZO members worldwide, the delegation will be hosted in Jerusalem by Knesset Speaker Yuli Edelstein and Aliza Lavie, chairwoman of the Knesset Committee on the Status of Women.
Knesset members representing a wide range of parties are expected to participate in a special panel discussion with the WIZO delegation on strengthening ties between the Israeli parliament and Jewish leadership abroad.
This year’s WIZO plenary will focus on recruiting young Jewish women into the organization’s ranks. Among the dozens of participants are World WIZO President Tova Ben-Dov and honorary presidents, Raya Jaglom and Helena Glaser.
In addition to the working sessions and Knesset visit, the delegation members will be meeting with Manuel Trajtenberg, chairman of the Council for Higher Education and a leading Israeli economist.
