In the latest anti-Semitic slur attributed to a member of the British Labour Party, a member has been suspended for claiming in a Facebook post that the Holocaust was a "political tool" used by Israel, the Jewish Chronicle reported on Monday.

John McAuliffe, a writer of online publications, accused Israel of having established "a financial racket in the West."

“The Holocaust has been the most useful political tool of the Zionist government in Israel to establish a financial racket in the West, whereby Israel receives an unlimited sum for the duration of its existence," McAuliffe wrote in his post.

“The large level of poverty in Israel among Holocaust survivors shows they don’t care about the emotional impact they are trying to generate.

“It is about money and military technology. This further paints a clearer picture of the divide between Zionism and Judaism, and their incompatibility.”

A party spokesman said on Monday he had been suspended from the party pending an investigation.

Earlier this month a major Jewish donor said fellow contributors were withholding funds to Labour in the aftermath of a list of anti-Semitic blamed on party members. Party leader Jeremy Corbyn has been accused of doing too little to contain the issue.
