Republican presidential hopeful Jeb Bush is reaching out to prominent American Jews to form a "National Jewish Leadership Team" to support his campaign, the Jewish Insider reported on Wednesday.

According to the Insider, which said it obtained one of the invitations that were sent out, those who endorse Bush before September 2 will be invited to meet the candidate and members of the campaign's senior staff.

A dinner is also scheduled on September 24, at the Miami Beach home of Ron Krongold, a member of the board of directors of the Republican Jewish Coalition.

According to the Insider, a similar group of Jewish figures was also set up to support Mitt Romney's campaign in 2012. However, that effort was organized after the presidential nominees were already selected. The Insider noted that several Jewish supporters of Romney's campaign have already endorsed other Republican candidates, including Josh Mandel, an honorary chairman of Romney's list, who endorsed Marco Rubio.

According to the Jewish Telegraphic Agency, which listed the ties of the Republican candidates to the Jewish community, Bush has been able to tap into a broad network of fundraisers who were loyal to the presidencies of his brother George W. and his father, George H.W. Among the former are Mel Sembler, a shopping mall magnate in Florida who backed Bush during his gubernatorial runs. In New York, equity billionaire Henry Kravis hosted a lucrative evening for Bush in February.
