American prosecutors have declined to charge a New Jersey girl, the daughter of a police sergeant, who posted online pictures of herself dressed like Adolf Hitler and tweeted about bombing Jews, the New York Daily News reported.

A prosecution spokesman said that the girl's anti-Semitic posts were offensive but "didn't rise to anything criminal."

The girl posted many online pictures of herself with a Hitler mustache and swastika. One picture, in which she is giving a Nazi salute, is captioned, "1944: crematorium crew."

She also posted a picture of Jewish families outside an Italian ice cream shop with the caption, "Perfect bombing time."

In another tweet, she wrote, "I really wanna drive around Lakewood and run over every Jew with my car."

The teen has not been named because she is a minor. Her father declined to comment on the case.

The case has sparked outrage in Jackson and neighboring Lakewood, which has a growing Orthodox population – numbering some 92,000 in 2010.

Avi Schnall, director of advocacy group Agudath Israel in Lakewood, said anti-Semitic slurs aimed at the region's Jewish population were nothing new.

Nevertheless, he agreed with the prosecutors that the girl – as well as her friends who replied to posts with anti-Semitic comments – should not be charged.

"We could comfort ourselves and say that these are just immature teenagers fooling around," Schnall told the Asbury Park Press. "But when Hitler becomes another costume that teenagers dress up in, and bombing a group of Jews becomes humorous, that tells us something is very wrong with our society."
