One interesting highlight at the 2014 general assembly of the Jewish Federations of North America, held in National Harbor, Maryland last week, was the public recitation of a poem entitled "I am Jewish" by young poet Andrew Lustig.

Lustig, 24, of Long Island New York, came to public attention earlier this year when "I am Jewish" went viral on social media. It is a poem about the poet's Jewish identity, which, he said in a recent interview, he wanted to understand “more deeply than gefilte fish and dancing on Shabbat.”

Lustig, who graduated in theater from Lehigh University in Pennsylvania in 2010, recently spent a year studying Judaism in Israel.
