A San Diego Jewish community center canceled a planned performance by Israeli singer Eyal Golan following a sex scandal involving the singer's father and several associates, Army Radio reported on Friday.

According to the report, the show scheduled for January 19 was nixed due to objections from members of the Jewish community who felt it was inappropriate for the performer to appear at their center.

Golan was arrested late last year in connection to a sex scandal involving underage girls, and admitted to police that he has sex with a minor but didn't know the girl was a minor at the time.

He is not being charged, but police have said four others, including the singer's father, are likely to be indicted. The singer's father and other associates are suspected of exploiting Golan's celebrity to have sex with underage girls, and are suspected of statutory rape, inducing a minor to use drugs and procuring minors.

Golan has been touring elsewhere in the United States, and now his fans in San Diego are angry about the cancellation, Army Radio reports.

Yigal Amsalem, a fan of the singer who was helping sell tickets for the event, told Army Radio, "Bringing Eyal Golan to San Diego is no small thing. He was acquitted in court. I don’t understand what justification the community has to come and vilify him in this way."

On the show's Facebook event page, another fan, Sharon Bousidan Amsalem, wrote in Hebrew: "Unfortunately, the JCC has canceled the event following the reports in the last two months. The San Diego morality police decided that it is inappropriate for Eyal to perform here." She added that a protest letter had been posted on the JCC's Facebook page, but it has since been removed.

Golan's rep in Israel, Ran Rahav, told Army Radio the issue was being examined.
