You can find tahini in many supermarkets, and at kosher and Middle Eastern markets.

Yields 9”x5” loaf

2 eggs at room temperature

1/3 cup sugar

1/2 lb. honey

1/4 lb. tahini

7 tablespoons butter or margarine, melted

1 1/4 cups self-rising flour

1/2 teaspoon cinnamon

1/2 teaspoon cardamom

Pinch nutmeg

1/3 cup orange juice

6 pitted dates, chopped

1. Oven to 350 degrees. Oil and line a loaf pan with parchment paper.

2. In a standing mixer mix the eggs for a couple of minutes and gradually add the sugar and honey. With the mixer running add tahini and butter.

3. In a bowl mix flour with the spices. Lower the speed of the mixer and add flour and orange juice alternately, starting and finishing with the flour. Pour the batter into the pan. Sprinkle the dates on top.

4. Bake for 45-50 minutes.
