Passover Event Guide: What Not to Pass Over in Israel During the Holiday

Wineries and museums, nature trails, extreme sports and music festivals - the guide to what's happening over the holiday.

Northern Israel

Ma'alot-Tarshiha  The town's 23rd sculpture festival will feature the work of 100 competing sculptors from around the world. From March 27-30.

Tefen  The Open Museum—puppet theater and musical performances throughout the holiday. Visitors can also see the sculpture garden, an exhibit on wheels and the car collection.

Manara cliffs  Mud and straw sculpture, Egyptian-style circus, ecology workshop and more. Until April 3.

Shikuei Ga'aton, Kibbutz Ga'aton in the Western Galilee. Tours of the boutique fruit winery. Wine tasting. Visitors also learn how the wine is made.

Bio-tour at Kibbutz Sde Eliyahu. Guided tour of the organic farming operations on the kibbutz will be offered throughout the holiday.

Morad Nahal Kishon Park. Event at this Kishon River park on March 28 will feature bird watching, guided tours and a range of other activities.

Jerusalem

Incubator Theater at Masie House Theater Center. March 27-30. Performances of "Disney Grill" and "Animal Fables," for the kids, and "Witchcraft" for adults.

The Spring Festival at Ein Yael Museum. March 27-29. Various events, including a performance of the Psik Threatre and a workshop for constructing ancient music intstruments.

Midgal David Museum. Throughout the holiday, from March 27th.  Featuring tours, art workshops, exhibits and night spectacles.

Israel Museum. March 27-28. Theatrical guide, as part of the exhibition "Herod the Great: The King's Final Journey."

Beit Shmuel. March 27 – April 1. Family tours in the Old City, Ein Karem allies, northern Judea Desert and other locations.

Tel Aviv – Jaffa

Suzanne Dellal Center. March 27, 28. Batsheva Ensemble's "Decal'e," an Ohad Naharin performance adapted for all the family.

Bialik Center. Guided tours to Beit Ha'ir and Beit Bialik, green workshops and performances for all the family, March 27- March 30. On March 27th, the Haggadah will be read with a new female Midrash at Beit Ha'ir, with the participation of MK's, writers and artists.

The Farm at Yarkon Park. March 27 – March 30, 09:30 – 14:30. Featuring Buttercup picking tour, theater and acrobatics performances, a talk on "water from nature."

The Israeli Opera at the Tel Aviv Performing Arts Center. Throughout the holiday, "The Magic Flute," "Hansel and Gretel" and "Mozart's Surprise Box," will be presented in special versions adapted for children.

Jaffa Theatre. March 28-30. The 23rd annual Teatroneto Festival, featuring nine monodramas. March 31- April 1: "The Orange Shoe," a theatrical event for children.

Center

Mediatheque Holon. March 27 – March 30. Perfomances of Erich Kastner adaptations, including "Emil and the Detectives," and "Lottie and Lisa," as well as Michael Ende's "Momo."

Passover in Netanya. March 27 – April 1. "Green Event," at the Yahalom Sport Center in Kiryat Hasharon, "Green Sounds," at the Herzl Midrachov, and the Mimouna event at the Winter Pond Park.

Ariel Sharon Park. March 27 – March 29. 09:00 – 15:00. Guided tours of the mound of waste and an introduction to the ecological rehabilitation project.

Rehovot, Clore Garden of Science at the Weizmann Institute. March 26 – April 2. Various activities for children including shadows and lights' games, 'green' activities and guided tours.

Ben Shemen Monkey Park. March 26 – April 1. Featuring quizzes, and African celebration, workshops and present collecting project for the monkeys at the park.

South

Ashkelon Spring Festival. March 28th. A pirate ship will be anchored at the Delila Beach. The festival focuses this year on the world of pirates. Free.

Kibbutz Yad Mordechai. March 26 – March 31. The Kibbutz will stage the exodus from Egypt, as well as guided tours of the Honey factory and the reconstruction of the well known battle in the 1948 War of Independence.

Agricultural Passover in the northern Negev. March 27 – March 30. A happening for the whole family featuring various agricultural activities and the Potato festival at Mizpeh Gvulot.

Dead Sea Ahava Music Festival.  March 27 – March 30. Performances by Aviv Gefen, Metropolitan, Mosh Ben Ari and Yehudit Ravitz.

Blue 4 Dance Festival, New Farm in Eilat. March 28 – March 29. featuring DJ's from Israel and abroad.
