3. Bus fare

Public transportation is one of the few things still subsidized in Israel. The cost of a bus ride within any city is NIS 6.60 or $1.87, and the price is uniform around the country. In the United States, fares vary. In New York City, it’s substantially more expensive at $2.50 a bus ride. In Atlanta, it’s also $2.50, and in Chicago, it’s $2. In Washington D.C., it’s slightly cheaper at $1.80. (One of the few places where it’s significantly cheaper is Omaha, Nebraska, where a ticket will cost you $1.25, but with all due respect to the hometown of business icon Warren Buffett, it’s not exactly the top destination in America.)
