11 Things That Still Cost Less in Israel

Higher Education in Israel at a Low Price

The annual cost of tuition at an Israeli university (which is set by the government) is today NIS 10,200 or $2,890.

2. College tuition

Higher education is the only big-ticket item that’s still consistently and dramatically cheaper in Israel. The annual cost of tuition at an Israeli university (which is set by the government) is today NIS 10,200 or $2,890. Tuition at some of the country’s private colleges can cost up to three times that amount. But that’s still nothing compared with the average price of tuition at a private four-year college or university in the United States, which was $29,056 last year (at public universities and colleges, the price was $8,655 for in-state students and $21,706 for out-of-staters). At Harvard, tuition last year cost $40,866; at New York University, it cost $43, 204; and at Oberlin College, it cost $43, 210. (Bear in mind, though, that many students take advantage of scholarships and loans in America to finance their tuition.)
