Former Israeli President Shimon Peres met with Iranian peace activist Maryam Faghihimani Monday at the Peres Center for Peace in Jaffa, who is visiting Israel on a special visit to promote peace.
Faghihimani, the daughter of prominent Iranian ayatollah Sayed Kamal Faghihimani and chairwoman and founder of the Centee for Cultural Diplomacy and Development, told Peres that "peace will come to the Middle East when we engage people of different sides."
Peres told Faghihimani that "when it comes to Iran, we really don't know why Iran is against us. We are not against Iran," adding that her visit took great courage and showed that peace will come from the people, not leaders.
