Comedian Jon Stewart ripped into the United Nations and John Kerry Monday night for their failed attempts to broker a cease-fire in the ongoing conflict between Israel and Gaza.
Stewart began his latest segment, "Here is something I do not get to say very much at all lately: 'Good news from the Middle East.'"
Unfortunately, the good news Stewart was referring to was a humanitarian cease-fire which only lasted 12 hours, with rocket fire resuming a full ten minutes after the cease-fire expired. As a result Stewart called on the need for a higher power to intervene. He went on to lambast the U.N. Security Council for convening an emergency meeting and only releasing a statement, not even an 'unenforceable' resolution.
"So the U.N. and the Pope cannot do anything but shake their heads at this situation and sigh, is there anyone that has the gravity, the authority, the international good will to step into the ring?" Enter John Kerry, "Anybody else, anybody"
