“This idea that everybody on the left is plotting against Christianity and wants to wipe out religion is offensive To me! Because I am the only media figure with a show week in and week out that says that. And I’ll be damned if the credit is going to go to the entire left when I’m the one doing all the heavy lifting.”
Maher quoted 2016 Republican presidential hopefuls Rick Santorum, Ted Cruz, Mike Huckabee and likely hopeful Jeb Bush making accusations that the left was actively attacking Christianity. Maher chided former U.S. senator Rick Santorum for recently saying that, “The treatment of Christians is so bad we should keep in mind Nazi Germany, where you go from Christians - Jews, obviously, but also Christians - being not just persecuted but put to death.”
