Two Israelis were killed overnight Thursday after a bus veered and plunged into a ravine in the West Bank. At least 15 other people were hurt and taken to a local hospital, with four in serious condition. The two dead Israelis were aged 23 and 37.
Rescue forces joined Israeli army medics in trying to reach the bus in the dead of night and under torrents of rain. Ambulances and rescue helicopters were called to the scene to assist.
Michael Chai Cohen, a volunteer from United Hatzalah paramedics said that when she arrived at the scene she "had to head down to the bus by foot We had to walk for 10 minutes in the rain and mud until we reached the bus. We requested helicopters to help evacuate the injured. Unfortunately, upon arrival, we found several victims who were unconscious and without a pulse. Others sustained varying degrees of injuries.”
