Israeli soldiers thwarted a stabbing attack at the entrance to Nablus in the West Bank, the military said on Sunday.

The Israeli army sustained no casualties in the incident. The suspected attacker was shot and killed.

An initial report by the army said that a Palestinian man ran at the soldiers with a knife at the Hawara checkpoint.

The assailant arrived at the scene in a vehicle, then got out and ran toward the troops brandishing a knife, before he was shot.
