Don't look so confused. There really is men's fashion in Tel Aviv. Just because nearly every guy you pass seems to be in an old T-shirt or tank top doesn't mean there aren't secret societies of men who, when night falls, like to look smart when they hit the bar, club or theater. The places to buy such threads in Tel Aviv may seem elusive but you just need to know where to look.

A safe bet is always Dizengoff Center, with its spiraling concentration of all the major clothing chains. International brands like H&M and Zara of course have a corner dedicated to male duds but Israel actually has an impressive list of its own homegrown labels catering to the fashion-forward male, including Castro, Golf and Renuar (all of which have women's collections as well), which can also be found at the Azrieli and Ramat Aviv malls and at stand-alone stores throughout the country.

Men with a more independent streak can check out a few stores that cater to their taste around the Neve Tzedek neighborhood, specifically along trendy Shabazi Street and one at Hatachana (the old Jaffa train station at the bottom of Shabazi, across from Alma Beach, now a bustling pocket of restaurants and retail).

On the other end of town, a stroll along Dizengoff (the street, not the mall) heading north, away from the mall, offers a handful of boutiques with custom jeans, tailored shirts and the latest trends.

For those who opt for a more retro vibe, Bograshav Street, which connects Ben Yehuda Street and King George Street, is lined with a number of great vintage and second-hand stores and sprinkled with the occasional shoe establishment and T-shirt shop because, after all, this is Tel Aviv.
