New technology to keep drivers’ attention on the road will track eye movements and warn if the driver is too tired or not looking at the road - even in the age of autonomous vehicles

The main cause of car accidents today is distracted drivers, busy with eating, fatigue – and mostly using a cellphone. In 2019, some 19 percent of the traffic accidents in Israel involved the use of a cellphone while driving, research conducted by the accounting firm BDO shows. The European Union estimates that anywhere between 10 percent to 30 percent of accidents are linked to distractions.
