Five people were reportedly killed in a rare daytime missile strike outside Damascus, according to a Syrian rights watchdog. The attack was attributed by Syrian state media to Israel.
The strike targeted a shipment of weapons intended for Hezbollah and making its way to Lebanon, the British-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said.
Syrian state media initially reported that the strikes wounded two soldiers and caused material damage, but that air defenses managed to intercept some, but not all, of the surface-to-surface missiles.
