A stabbing attack was thwarted Thursday afternoon, when an assailant attempted to stab a soldier in Hebron and then escaped, the Israel Defense Forces said.

No one was wounded in the incident, it added.

Security services are searching for the suspect's whereabouts.

Earlier Thursday, a young man was moderately wounded when two Palestinian assailants stabbed him in Beit Shemesh. Police who arrived at the site shot at the assailants, killing one and seriously wounding the other.

Overnight, a Jewish man was shot to death after he was suspected of being a terrorist and, according to testimony, tried to snatch a weapon from an IDF soldier. The IDF Spokesman's Unit said it was a soldier that fired at the man, and that "the security services are investigating details of the incident."
