As Israel Netball approaches the end of its sixth league season, Tel Aviv looks to win its second straight title when it takes on Katamon in Modi’in on Thursday, June 11.

So far, only Ra’anana has won gold twice but having lost a couple of key players, the team is not in the running at all this year.

Tel Aviv faces a challenge in trying to repeat last year’s win. This season the team has been hard pressed to field a full squad at every match and yet managed to win against a much-improved Modi’in team with six players on court. Tel Aviv was even down to five players in the last quarter before prevailing. In the final they’ll be facing Katamon, which came very close to beating them in the first round and only lost by two goals (35-33).

Vying for the bronze medal are the two Jerusalem teams, Jerusalem Mercaz and Jtown. Jerusalem had the upper hand in the first round, but Jtown came back strongly in their high-scoring second-round match to win 57-30. Considering that there is no marked court with proper netball posts for these players in Jerusalem, this is quite a feat.

The bronze medal match begins at 8:15 P.M. and the title game is set for 9:40 P.M. Both games are scheduled to be played at the Modi’in Sports Center.
