French club Lyon says it's willing to replay a women's French Cup semifinal that its team won on penalty kicks because its opponent had a spot kick wrongly ruled out by the referee. After Sunday's match at Sussargues in southern France finished 1-1, Montpellier's players thought they had won the shootout following a penalty kick by Rumi Utsugi. Her shot hit a post and then the Lyon goalkeeper before going into the net. It was disallowed by the referee, and Lyon went on to win 6-5. Lyon said in a statement yesterday that it suggested a replay "given the particular circumstances" of the win, and in the interests of "good relations between the two clubs." The final decision will be made by the French Football Federation. American midfielder Megan Rapinoe plays for Lyon. (AP )

The New York Rangers will play two outdoor games at Yankee Stadium early next year as part of the National Hockey League's Stadium Series, the league said yesterday. The Rangers will face off against the New Jersey Devils on January 26 and then battle the New York Islanders on January 29 in the first hockey games to be played at the Major League Baseball stadium, which seats over 50,000 people. Next season's four-game Stadium Series kicks off on January 25, when the 2012 Stanley Cup champion Los Angeles Kings take on the Anaheim Ducks at Dodger Stadium, home of Major League Baseball's Los Angeles Dodgers. The series concludes March 1 when the Chicago Blackhawks host the Pittsburgh Penguins at Soldier Field, home of the National Football League's Chicago Bears. (Reuters )

Brandon Barnes caught Miguel Cabrera's bases-loaded drive against the wall in right-center field for the final out, and the Houston Astros avoided a season sweep against the Detroit Tigers with a 7-5 victory yesterday. Carlos Corporan hit a tiebreaking double in the top of the ninth for the Astros, who lost their first six meetings with the Tigers by a combined 50-12. Jose Veras pitched the ninth for his fifth save in seven chances. He walked two and hit a batter, but Cabrera's drive came a few feet short of winning the game. Hector Ambriz (1-2 ) got the win. Al Alburquerque (0-1 ) walked J.D. Martinez starting the ninth, and Corporan followed with a drive to the gap in left-center off left-hander Phil Coke. (AP )
