Greg Elliot once again had the best gross score, at the March Monthly Medal at the Ga’ash Golf Club. Elliot played the front nine in a two-over-par 37 and came in with a four-over-par 39, for a round of 76.
Nearly 50 golfers participated in the new format for the Monthly Medal, which includes prizes for the best gross score in the A and B divisions, as well as among the super seniors.
In the A division, Steve Taylor had a one-under-par net score to take first place, followed by Meir Dor on net 72. Droit Levy and Norma Kaufman both had a net 71 in the B division, with Droit taking first place on the count back. Meyer Iny won the super seniors on net 75. Shmulik Almagor took second place on net 74.
Nearest to the pin prizes went to Amos Aharoni and Hugo Weinstein.
Ga’ash golfers also featured in the top spots in the 2015 Israeli Net tournament, which was also held in March. There were two qualifying rounds at both the Ga’ash and Caesarea clubs, while the final was played the first day at Ga’ash and the second day at Ceasarea.
Two Ga’ash members – Antony Harris on net 142 followed by Meir Dor on 151 – captured first and second place in the gold section in the Israeli Net.
Two Israeli war veterans and members of Beit Halochem who play their golf at Caesarea were first and second in the silver division. Mario Hayun finished first on 154 net, followed by Shlomo Ivgi on 155.
Veteran Ga’ash golfer Eddy Hoffman was the Net champion in the super seniors on 144, well ahead of second-placed Aharon Mizrahi’s score of 152.
On the first day of the finals played at Ga’ash, Ronny Peleg scored a hole in one on the 18th hole, playing at a distance of 165 meters.
