There were nine teams competing in the women’s tournament. Israel overall played eight games in the competition, losing its first game to Germany 18-14, tying longtime rivals Austria 7-7 and then winning the other six games.
This tournament was just a taste of what lies ahead for the team, according to team officials. In August, Israel will be hosting the International Federation of American Football Flag Football World Championships in Jerusalem.
“I am extremely proud of my girls – if we continue playing this way I have high hopes that we will be up on the podium in August,” said head coach Yonah Mishaan after the tournament. “To host this tournament and represent our country is nothing short of a dream come true.”
