Israel's national soccer team is leading 2-1 at half-time against Portugal in a critical World Cup 2014 qualification match.

Israel got off to the worst possible start, conceding a goal in just the second minute of the game. The Israel defense was stationary as Bruno Alves headed home corner kick to silence the 40,000 fans at the national stadium in Ramat Gan.

But Israel hit back in the 28th minute when Biram Kayal turned smartly in the Portugal penalty box and in the final minute of the first half, Eden Ben Bassat slammed home after a clever flick-on by Tomer Hemed.

Victory for Israel would keep alive its chances of qualifying for Brazil 2014 and would be one of the national teams greatest ever scalps.
