The Jerusalem Lions and Tel Aviv Comrades will play a best-of-three series on June 14-18 for the Israel Association of Baseball’s Premier League title.

The Comrades, last year’s champion, is led by veteran right-handed pitcher and national team player Dan Rothem. It features a talented group of young players, some of whom are graduates of the Israel Baseball Academy, including Noam Calisar at shortstop, Tal Erel behind the plate at catcher, and the speedy Roey Shelem in center field.

New Premier League powerhouse the Jerusalem Lions was seeking to finish the regular season against Modi’in with an impressive record of 15 wins and only one loss. With the Lions’ great depth on the mound, this should help it in the three-game series. It boasts a strong middle of the batting order anchored by a newcomer, two-sport (football and baseball) star Avi Rosenblum, and IAB national director Nate Fish, leading the league in every offensive category.

The series between the defending champs and the new kids in the block should prove to be an exciting one. Games take place at the Baptist Village in Petah Tikva on Sunday June 14, Tuesday 16th and Thursday 18th at 19:15. Entrance is free.
