Inter Aliyah got off to a strong start to the second half of the season, trouncing Hapoel Tzafririm Holon, the fourth-place team in Liga Gimmel Tel Aviv, 5-2 despite trailing by a goal at the half.
On their home Jaffa pitch, Inter played well against the former first-division side but found itself conceding midway through the first half after a good Holon move down the right side.
Inter boss Eli Mashan made two changes at the break and the effect was immediate. Within just 10 minutes, Inter had both equalized and taken the lead, thanks to almost identical headers from Roey Sartov and Sam Sank.
Now ahead in the game, the all-olim players showed no signs of slowing, and their blitzkrieg attacks ended with two more goals each by Oded Puzis and Evyatar Erez. The game ended with each side scoring from the penalty spot in the closing stages, with Erez grabbing his second.
Meanwhile, Inter’s B squad had a disappointing result in the IFLI Cup group stage, with lowly Etz Netanya emerging victorious 2-0. Ran Sarusi, failed to convert from the penalty spot and the two teams went into the half goalless.
In the second half, Inter continued to spurn opportunities in front of the in-form Netanya goalkeeper, and the team was punished accordingly as the opponents scored two unanswered goals.
